It is important to know if oil is made or mixed with copra oil where the copra has can be sitting around for weeks, sometimes months, before processing.
Often times where virgin coconut oil is claimed, the coconuts can be left for days after cracking before they are pressed into oil.
There is a great deal of coconut oil coming into Australia which is relatively cheap and seems to have a very bland taste. This oil is often from Sri Lanka.This is a result of the centralisation of the process of making the coconut oil. The coconut oil is usually pressed in one location and sourced from large coconut farms. The commercialisation of this process and mechanisation makes it cheaper to make.

There is no other brand in the Australian market that sources its oil only from Fiji. Other brands also source their oil from Sri Lanka, which is a much cheaper source. Sri Lankan oil producers are more mechanised and centralised and do not offer the benefits at the local level to the same extent as oil from Fiji, the Solomon islands, Vanuatu, Papua Nuigini, Samoa, or other nearby Islands that are using a micro business structure to produce the coconut oil.
